By adding an extra layer of fabric to single-quilted or box-constructed insulated wear, cold air penetration is blocked, and warm air is retained. Additionally, the sewing thread does not penetrate from the outer to the inner fabric, making cold spots less likely to occur. (Some models also have an extra layer of fabric on the skin side.)
